Proposal title: Professional Learning and Agrifood Network for Training

PLANT: Professional Learning and Agrifood Network for Training aims to transform Vocational Education and Training (VET) systems in Kenya, Uganda, Italy, and Spain by modernizing curricula, integrating digital tools, and fostering public-private partnerships within the agrifood sector.

Addressing the growing demand for skilled labor, PLANT enhances the relevance of VET education through industry-driven approaches. It builds the capacity of VET providers to strengthen cooperation between public and private stakeholders, ensuring demand-oriented training aligned with labor market needs. By involving 40 agrifood enterprises in curriculum co-design, the project directly links education with industry requirements, bridging the skills gap.

PLANT improves the quality and responsiveness of VET by equipping 120 VET teachers with advanced digital and pedagogical skills, impacting approximately 9,500 students. By integrating digital agriculture, climate-smart farming, and sustainable agribusiness management, PLANT ensures that VET systems remain relevant to evolving industry needs, supporting smoother school-to-work transitions.

The project aligns VET provision with national development strategies by fostering advocacy activities involving 60 representatives from national authorities. By advocating for curriculum changes and influencing educational policy, PLANT guarantees that VET systems are adaptable and aligned with market needs. PLANT establishes a sustainable network of VET institutions that continuously update their curricula in collaboration with industry stakeholders. This dynamic network supports ongoing dialogue and cooperation between educational institutions, agrifood enterprises, and policymakers, ensuring continuous alignment with labor market needs.
